Prayer & Prophecy

We believe prayer is a beautiful gift from God; an invitation to participate in his heart and mission in the world. In prayer we experience God and hear from God and lay our desires at his feet.

You don’t have to be a ‘professional’ Christian to pray, but for those of us who are committed followers of Jesus, prayer is an essential discipline that shapes our lives. We can pray in words and in other wonderful and creative ways such as singing, painting, and dance.

We also believe in prophecy - a gift of the Holy Spirit through which God makes his heart and will known to his people. The Apostle Paul says we should eagerly desire the special abilities the Holy Spirit gives, especially the ability to prophesy (1 Cor 14:1), so we lean into this instruction.

Whenever we meet we pray. Below are some ways to encourage you to pray at home, work, school, or wherever you find yourself through the week:

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.

RENEWAL PROJECT

We are praying tenaciously for a revival of Christian faith in Redditch and beyond.

Conversations started back in March 2023 that place St Stephen’s Redditch at the centre of a regional strategy for renewal in the Anglican church. The rubber is hitting the road now and so beginning in autumn 2024 we’re going to experience some flux.
